Exercises that are designed to target thigh cellulite do not have to consist of the same, old boring gym routine three times a week. In addition to reducing the appearance of cellulite, proper exercise can assist a woman in shedding unwanted pounds, retain more energy, and sleep better during the evenings. Besides removing the fat deposits under the skin that cause cellulite, regular exercise increases the efficiency of the circulatory system, which allows the skin to have a fresher and healthier appearance. Deposits of fat cells rest upon the muscle tissue of the body. When a particular muscle is toned, the muscle is torn, and it repairs itself by knitting itself back together more tightly. This tearing dislodges the fat deposit from the muscle, increasing the likelihood that it will be consumed by the body for calories.

There are generally two types of exercises that are recommended for thigh cellulite: aerobic exercises and anaerobic exercises. Improving the circulatory system of the body through aerobic exercises improves lymphatic circulation, which reduces the chances of cellulite occurring in the body. Different aerobic exercises target different areas of the body. For example, swimming and walking specifically target the hamstrings and quadriceps. The use of a treadmill or bicycle will specifically target the muscles of the butt, hamstrings, legs, and calves. Other common machines used in aerobic exercises include the elliptical machine, the stair stepper, and a rowing machine. These machines are also adept at exercising butt, legs, and hamstrings. These are the areas where cellulite most often occurs.

Anaerobic exercises are particularly adept at reducing cellulite in one's body, because they are designed to specifically target the thighs, hips, and derriere. Furthermore, this type of exercise primarily metabolizes fat in these areas of the body and converts it to muscle. The most common anaerobic exercises include squats and curls. Many different exercise machines allow an individual to perform leg curls with attached weights. The amount of weight that an individual uses is not important, but the exercise routine should be performed consistently. Squats may be performed with an exercise machine or through the use of an exercise ball. Despite the type of exercise that a person chooses to do, it should be performed at least three times a week in order to be an effective form of exercises for thigh cellulite.
